Terms of Service

These terms apply to the Doomsday Computer program, our website and our setup services. By buying or using them you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not buy or use them. "We" and "us" means Doomsday Computer, PMB 205, 11310 Prospect Dr #10, Jackson, CA 95642, United States.

1. The license

• When you buy the Download, you get a license to install and use Doomsday Computer for your household, on up to 3 computers. The license does not expire.
• You may not resell, rent, share publicly or redistribute the program or your license key, and you may not remove license checks.
• The program is licensed to you, not sold. We keep all rights we do not expressly give you.
• The libraries, maps and AI models the program uses belong to their publishers and are distributed under their own open licenses. Those licenses are listed in the program. Our license covers the Doomsday Computer program, not their content.
• We may cancel a license that was obtained by fraud, a payment that was reversed, or a refund.

2. Buying the Download

The Download is sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy processes your payment, collects any sales tax and emails your receipt and license key. Its own terms also apply to the payment.

3. Setup services: Loaded Drive and Full Install

• We sell software and labor only. We do not sell hardware. You buy your own drive, laptop or desktop, from the Hardware section of our site or anywhere else, and send it to us.
• New hardware only. We only accept drives, laptops and desktops that are new and still sealed in their original packaging. We do not accept used, refurbished or opened equipment. For a computer you already own, buy the Download and install it yourself. If used or opened hardware arrives, we will not work on it. We ship it back to you and refund your service fee minus the cost of that return shipping.
• Every service starts with a request. We confirm your order, your slot and the shipping instructions by email before you ship anything. Please do not ship hardware without that confirmation and your order number.
• We load the program, libraries, maps and AI models we agree on, test the result and ship it back.
• Turnaround: usually within 10 business days of receiving your hardware. If a job will take longer, we will tell you.
• Your service includes a license for the program, under the same terms as section 1.

4. Shipping and hardware

• You are responsible for shipping your hardware to us, including tracking and insurance. We are not responsible for loss or damage before it reaches us.
• We ship your hardware back with tracking and insurance at its declared value.
• We check hardware when it arrives. If it is dead on arrival or fails during setup, we will tell you; repair or replacement is covered by the maker's warranty or the seller, not by us. We can return it to you at your cost.
• Back up anything on a laptop before you send it. Full Install may erase the computer. We are not responsible for data on hardware you send us.

5. Refunds

• Download: if the program will not install or run on a supported system (Ubuntu Linux, as listed on our site) and we cannot fix it, we will refund you within 14 days of purchase. Write to hello@doomsdaycomputer.com with your order number. A refund cancels the license.
• Setup services: fully refundable until work starts. Once we have started loading your hardware, the service is not refundable, but if something we did is wrong we will fix it.

6. About the AI and the information

• The AI and the libraries can be wrong, out of date or incomplete. Nothing in Doomsday Computer is medical, legal, financial or safety advice, and it does not replace a doctor, emergency services or a professional.
• In an emergency, contact emergency services if you can. Use your own judgment and check important information against more than one source.
• You are responsible for how you use the information.

7. Warranty and liability

The program and services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We do not promise that the program will be error free or will work on every computer. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the product or service involved. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

9. Affiliate links

Some links on our site are affiliate links, including Amazon links. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. It does not change your price.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. The version posted here with its date applies to purchases made from that date. Licenses you already bought keep the terms they were sold under.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of California.
