Doomsday Computer ("we", "us") makes an offline knowledge program and offers setup services. This page explains what personal information we collect, why, who handles it for us, and how to have it changed or deleted. The short version: the program itself does not track you, and we collect only what we need to send email you asked for and to fill your orders.
The program does not track you
Doomsday Computer runs on your own computer. Your searches, AI chats, maps, emergency plans and files stay on your computer and your drive. The program has no analytics, no advertising and no usage reporting. It contacts the internet only when you choose to: to download libraries, maps, models and updates, and once to activate your license.
What we collect
- Mailing list. Your email address when you join the list on our website, the date you joined and confirmed, and whether you open or click our emails.
- Purchases. Your name, email address, billing country and order details. Card details are handled by our payment processor; we never see or store your card number.
- License activation. When you activate a license, the program sends your license key and the email you bought with to our activation server. The server keeps a log of each activation, including the date and the internet (IP) address it came from, to prevent abuse.
- Setup services. For a Loaded Drive or Full Install order: your name, email, shipping address, phone number if you give one, details about your hardware, and how you want it set up.
- Email you send us. Whatever you choose to include.
- Website. Our web host keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies on this website.
Who handles it for us
We use a small number of service providers, each only for its job:
- SendMails.io stores the mailing list and sends our emails. Its signup check uses Google reCAPTCHA, which is subject to Google's privacy policy.
- Brevo delivers those emails.
- Lemon Squeezy sells the Download as merchant of record: it processes payment, collects sales tax, issues license keys and keeps the order records.
- Namecheap hosts this website, our mailbox and the license activation server.
- Shipping carriers (for example USPS, UPS or FedEx) receive the address needed to return your hardware.
- Amazon. Some links on our site are Amazon affiliate links. If you click one, Amazon may set cookies and will know you came from our site. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Mailing list data stays until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Order and license records are kept as long as needed to support your license and as required for tax and accounting. Activation logs are kept for security and trimmed regularly.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe with the link at the bottom of any email we send.
- See, correct or delete your information: email hello@doomsdaycomputer.com. We may keep what the law requires us to keep, such as order records for taxes.
- California residents have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to not be treated differently for asking. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in California law.
Children
Our website and mailing list are not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new date. If a change is significant, we will tell the mailing list.
